Thank you so much for sharing your stories of crafting and anxiety and depression. It was really brave and really helpful. You’re all lucky to have each other.

I was diagnosed with anxiety last year, and while it’s not the same as depression a lot of your experiences resonated. Finding a good counselor and building new coping mechanisms is hard (Side note, the Ologies podcast episodes on Addiction and Trauma have mental health resources for people at various income levels). But once I realized I was taking on too many knitting deadlines as a way to compensate for all the other things in my life that felt out of control (one of you may remember a certain test knitter who signed up for a project in the middle of a cross-country move, sorry), knitting actually went back to being a thing that helps me cope with my anxiety, not another stressor.

All of this is a very long-winded way of saying thank you. Every time another person, especially another person in the crafting community, opens up about anxiety & depression, it makes it a little easier for the rest of us to stop telling ourselves that the way we feel is nothing and we just need to deal.
