Thanks to shout outs from @americangirlspodcast and @reneegraef there are a lot of new folks around here! Thanks for joining me on this adventure in costume history! 🌾 . . . . . I’m Jessica Quirk! I live just outside of Bloomington, Indiana and @iubloomington is my alma mater! In my early career I worked in clothing design in NYC, where I met my husband, another Hoosier. I also had a fashion blog called What I Wore for ten years but got burnt out and changed gears to be a stay at home mom. After feeling lost creatively (small children can turn your world upside down!) I went to the Jane Austen Festival in 2018 and remembered how much I love costuming and historical dress. I’ve done 1780s three times, 1810 and then jumped headfirst into researching 1854 for #thekirstenproject. I love knitting, sewing, illustration, baking bread and pies and hiking. I haven’t bought any new new clothes since 2017 (I shop #secondhandfirst or make my modern clothes. Peep at my main acct @jessicajquirk to see more!) Ruth Goodman is my personal hero. I love doing things with my hands and making things from scratch. I am most definitely a Kirsten.🌾 . . . . . Introduce yourself if you’d like!! So many Ag collectors and history buffs here! Maybe you’ll be able to connect with someone new! 🌾 . . . . . #agkirsten #kirstenlarson #costume #historicalcostume #dressup #19thcentury #spoonflowerapparel #memade #sewing #pleasantcompany @figleafpatterns @americangirlbrand #americangirl #introduction

Mollie, I’ve been using the professional version of “Pattern Maker for Cross-Stitch” (from Hobbyware.com) for years and really like it. The program includes a bunch of floss companies, in addition to DMC, and you can export the charts as jpegs. I’m not sure if they offer a version for Mac. Hope this helps!
